My posts have become much less frequent in the past few weeks. Everyone from professors to past students to advisors has warned the incoming CIR class about the work load and the intensity. Rumor has it that fun dies in this place, but judging from the late night antics of my next door neighbors (read: the ENTIRE ultimate frisbee team) fun isn't dead at all. Merely in need of a little Resuscitation from time to time.
In fact, my past week has seen plenty of fun, amidst a fair share of anxiety over class selection and the aforementioned apartment noise pollution. I've checked out Chicago's downtown and made my way around Hyde Park a fair bit. My first class was on contemporary issues in human rights, a perfect start to the year after working for a human rights NGO this summer. Although my neighbors seem to be crazy (streaking, invented drinking games involving dice, ritualistic chanting) my apartment is great, and the location is awesome! Right behind a phenomenal used book store. All in all, life in Chicago seems like a perfect fit.
