Weezer, The Hold Steady, and an American Idol

I may not look exactly like Buddy Holly, but I did see Mary Tyler Moore yesterday. There she is, turning the world on with her smile. Ever present in pop music and on Niccollett avenue, MTM is a legend. Weezer asked their homies to stop dissin' her, and the Hold Steady claimed she was the only thing they knew about the Twin Cities. Well, MTM and Profane Existence. I have actually seen her in person, when she testified before Congress in 2000 on behalf of increased funding for juvenile diabetes. (Selfless, crusading, a faux-Midwest girl who truly made good.) We rode in the same elevator. It was amazing.
